Grounds Maintenance

Background
The Town of Charlton, Massachusetts, is seeking qualified landscape and snow removal contractors to maintain recreational properties. This includes mowing, landscaping, and snow removal services. The goal of this contract is to ensure the upkeep of town recreation fields, municipal sites, and other public areas to enhance community use and safety.

Work Details
The contractor will provide comprehensive grounds maintenance services including:

1. Mowing of various recreational properties such as Memorial Field, Public Library grounds, Town Hall area, Harry Bond Square, Town Common, Police Station Grounds, Prindle Ridge Area, Little Nugget Lake, Maynard Farm Recreation Area, and others. Specific tasks include mowing grass to specified heights during different seasons (2-3 inches), trimming edges and sidewalks, picking up trash bi-weekly, seasonal cleanup (leaf removal), mulching around shrubs annually, maintaining ball fields (including fertilizing and aerating), and ensuring the cleanliness of basketball/skatepark areas.

2. Snow removal services for designated properties including the Police Station, Fire Substation, Town Hall, Library, Community Center among others. The contractor must mobilize equipment within specified timeframes during snow events and maintain safe access to municipal buildings.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on March 9, 2026, for a duration of three years until April 1, 2029. It may be extended for two additional years at the discretion of the Town.

Place of Performance
Services will be performed in various locations throughout the Town of Charlton including parks and municipal buildings such as Memorial Field behind the Public Library and other designated recreational areas.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must provide proof of experience in landscaping and snow removal services with references from previous public or municipal contracts. They are required to have necessary equipment available for both mowing and snow removal operations. Additionally, bidders must submit certificates of Workers Compensation insurance along with liability insurance documentation.
