Factory Pond Dam Rehabilitation and Woodland Street Bridge Replacement

Background
The Town of Holliston, Massachusetts, is issuing a contract for the Factory Pond Dam Rehabilitation and Woodland Street Bridge Replacement project. This project aims to enhance infrastructure and ensure the safety and functionality of the dam and bridge, which are critical to the community's water management and transportation systems.

Work Details
The work includes:

1. Mobilization to project site; establish temporary site security controls, staging, and access areas.

2. Install erosion and sediment control devices as needed.

3. Maintain continual use of the water main throughout construction and relocate it within the project area.

4. Install control of water and diversion systems as needed.

5. Complete spillway replacement:
a. Remove existing spillway materials to subgrade;
b. Install sheet pile cut-off wall;
c. Prepare subgrade for new spillway structure;
d. Install new spillway structure including mass footing and wall stems;
e. Backfill new spillway structure with specified surface coverage;
f. Install ancillary components including outlet systems and access grating system.

6. Complete bridge replacement:
a. Remove existing bridge components to subgrade;
b. Install sheet pile scour wall;
c. Prepare subgrade for new bridge structure;
d. Install bridge structure and associated components;
e. Install downstream wing walls;
f. Install closure pours, approach slabs, guardrail transitions, bridge rail, sidewalk, safety curb;
g. Backfill constructed works;
h. Regrade downstream channel with riprap protection.

7. Complete roadway improvement work:
a. Remove existing materials/features for roadway improvements;
b. Install drainage improvements including stormwater system;
c. Install new curbing, sidewalk, guardrail, chain link fence, signage;
d. Install full-depth pavement and striping.

8. Install railings along top of spillway walls and downstream wing walls.

9. Plantings as specified and establish grass in areas not designated for different materials.

10. Demobilize.

Period of Performance
The successful bidder must commence work within ten (10) days of receiving a written Notice to Proceed, with all work completed by or before September 1, 2025.

The contract will be performed at Factory Pond Dam and Woodland Street in Holliston, Massachusetts.
