Bid # 25-191 2025 Annual Pavement Markings Contract

Background
The City of Springfield, Massachusetts, is issuing a solicitation for the 2025-2027 Annual Pavement Markings Contract under Bid No. 25-191. The goal of this contract is to enhance road safety and visibility through proper pavement markings as indicated by the Engineer. The project aligns with the city's mission to maintain and improve public infrastructure.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for marking where necessary or as indicated by the Engineer, including limits of removal; locations of pavement lines; arrows; sharrows; and legends.

Specific tasks include:
- Removal of approximately 500 square feet (SF) of pavement marking;
- Painting approximately 150,000 linear feet (LF) of 4” reflectorized white lines (painted);
- 42,000 LF of 4” reflectorized white lines (hand-painted);
- 250,000 LF of 12” reflectorized white lines;
- 1,050,000 LF of 4” reflectorized yellow lines (painted);
- 5,000 LF of 4” reflectorized yellow lines (hand-painted);
- 30,000 SF of pavement arrows and legend reflectorized white markings (painted).

Additional work may include painting thermoplastic lines and legends throughout the City.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed over a period of three years with an estimated total project cost of $529,000 for one year. The awarding authority reserves the right to extend the contract for two additional 12-month options.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed throughout the City of Springfield, Massachusetts.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be pre-qualified through the Massachusetts Department of Transportation in the specific class of work under Highway Construction category. If a company is not prequalified under 'Pavement Markings', the bid will be provided for informational purposes only. The City supports a goal of twenty percent (20%) minority and women participation in all contracts.
