Background
The Massachusetts Veterans Home at Holyoke (VHH) is a long-term health care facility established in 1952 for eligible veterans of Massachusetts. The facility currently has 128 beds and is transitioning to a new facility that will expand to 234 beds and offer adult day health services for an additional 50 veterans. VHH's mission is to provide high-quality personal health care services to veterans with dignity, honor, and respect. To support this mission, VHH is seeking qualified providers to deliver comprehensive audiology services for its veteran residents.
Work Details
The awarded bidder will provide comprehensive on-site audiology services through a qualified and certified Audiologist. Services include:
- Educating Veterans on procedures and obtaining signed consent forms;
- Providing on-site visits every two months;
- Being available for phone consultations;
- Responding to urgent service needs within 24 hours;
- Working within a multidisciplinary care environment;
- Ensuring minimal disruption to Veterans’ routines;
- Maintaining compliance with applicable regulations;
- Conducting routine hearing screenings and comprehensive diagnostic evaluations;
- Performing hearing aid evaluations, fittings, dispensing, and maintenance;
- Offering repairs, troubleshooting, and battery replacement services;
- Managing cerumen (earwax);
- Providing tinnitus management and counseling;
- Delivering in-person staff education on hearing loss twice a year;
- Coordinating with nursing staff and care teams;
- Submitting standard visit notes with recommendations within 48 hours.
Period of Performance
The initial contract duration is 2 years with options for renewal for up to 3 additional years (1 year each), totaling a maximum contract duration of 5 years until 2031.

The services will be performed at the Massachusetts Veterans Home at Holyoke located at 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
Bidder Requirements
Bidders must have current licensure in Massachusetts, relevant certifications credentialed by The Veterans Home, experience in long-term care settings, knowledge of geriatric hearing healthcare needs (experience with Veterans preferred), compliance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), HIPAA regulations, and proof of liability insurance. Additionally, the procurement encourages participation from small businesses under the Small Business Purchasing Program (SBPP).
