Background
The Town of Needham, through its Department of Public Works, is seeking sealed bids for the NHS Main Staircase Replacement project. This project involves renovations to the historic exterior entrance staircase of Needham High School, including the replacement of solid stair treads/pavers and structural concrete underneath. Additionally, there will be a poured pitched step extending from the entrance doors and replacement of existing handrails. The project area is approximately 950 square feet.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for all labor and materials necessary for the replacement of the main staircase at Needham High School. Specific tasks include:
- Renovation of existing historic exterior entrance staircase
- Replacement of solid stair treads/pavers
- Structural concrete work underneath
- Addition of one poured pitched step extending from entrance doors
- Replacement of existing handrails. All work must comply with Town specifications or as directed by the Director of Public Works.

Period of Performance
Work is anticipated to commence on June 23, 2025, with substantial completion expected by August 15, 2025. Operational readiness is targeted for September 12, 2025.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Needham High School, located at 609 Webster Street, Needham, Massachusetts.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must provide proof of a minimum of three continuous years in business and references for five projects of similar nature completed within the last five years. Bidders must also have DCAMM Certification in the prime category of Masonry for general bidders and in Miscellaneous and Ornamental Iron and Waterproofing for filed sub-bidders. A bid deposit of not less than five percent (5%) of the bid value is required.
