Background
The Kentucky State University (KSU) Greenhouse project aims to provide a modern facility that supports four agricultural programs at KSU and enhances K-12 and agricultural extension outreach. This initiative addresses the need for updated infrastructure to foster hands-on learning, research, and sustainable farming practices. It benefits students, faculty, and the community by promoting agricultural education and innovation. The project is funded through an NSF grant with a maximum budget of $925,000.

Work Details
The contract involves design-build services for a two-bay greenhouse measuring 60 feet wide by 96 feet long, constructed with twin-wall polycarbonate covering. Key tasks include:
- Demolishing two existing greenhouses
- Site preparation including grading for proper drainage
- Constructing foundations and a concrete floor slab-on-grade
- Installing natural gas heating systems with exhaust vents
- Equipping the greenhouse with various fans and cooling systems.

Specific equipment includes:
- Twelve 20-inch horizontal airflow fans
- Four 42-inch exhaust fans
- Two 30-inch peak exhaust fans with shutters
- Motorized end vent packages
- Evaporative cooling systems
- Reflective shade systems
- Insect screen kits.

The greenhouse will also feature aluminum doors and an automated control system.

Period of Performance
The project is expected to achieve substantial completion within 180 calendar days from the start date, with final completion required within an additional 30 calendar days.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the KSU South Campus in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be registered in the Commonwealth eProcurement System. All design professionals involved must be licensed in Kentucky. The successful firm will need to submit performance and payment bonds along with an insurance certificate within 48 hours after receiving the Notice of Intent to Award.
