Background
The Commonwealth of Kentucky, through the Department for Facilities and Support Services, is seeking proposals for design-build services to install a new bowling alley at the Gregory Reis Center of the Kentucky School for the Blind. This project aims to enhance recreational facilities for students ranging from elementary to high school, aligning with the agency's mission to provide quality education and support services.

Work Details
The project includes the installation of two new bowling lanes, which involves:
- Demolishing existing lanes and equipment
- Installing new lanes complete with all necessary accessories for operation

Specific components include:
- Lanes, foundation system, lumber
- Foul line detection and printed foul line warning
- Bumper and gutter system
- Ball return system with rack and reset buttons
- Pinspotters with all operational accessories
- Glow pins
- Controls for lane operation including software and licensing; contractor to provide a computer and applicable devices
- Floor-mounted console with touchscreen operation
- Spare part kits

Additionally, the installation will include 16 age-appropriate bowling balls, 16 pairs of bowling shoes, a ball ramp, and a digital scoring system with mounted displays. The contractor must have a minimum of 10 years experience in bowling lane installation.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to be substantially completed within 180 calendar days from the start date, followed by final completion within an additional 30 calendar days.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Kentucky School for the Blind located at 1867 Frankfort Ave., Louisville, KY 40206.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be licensed to operate in Kentucky and are required to submit performance and payment bonds along with an insurance certificate within 48 hours after receiving the Notice of Intent to Award. All design professionals involved must be registered in Kentucky. The proposal should also incorporate minority business enterprise (MBE) firms as part of their response.
