Background
The Commonwealth of Kentucky is issuing this solicitation for the reclamation of land adversely affected by previous coal mining operations in Muhlenberg County.
The project aims to restore approximately 47.5 acres, which includes addressing unstable highwalls and mining pits, thereby protecting historical sites and ensuring environmental safety.

Work Details
The project involves the following key tasks:
- Reclaiming approximately 47.5 acres of land;
- Eliminating around 5.2 acres of mining pits;
- Reclaiming 4600 linear feet of highwall;
- Addressing 12.7 acres of unstable highwall or slopes;
- Backfilling pits with onsite mine spoil material at slopes no steeper than 3:1;
- Treating water in the pits to raise pH to 6 or greater before release;
- Placing backfill material with moderate compaction effort.
Notably, blasting will not be permitted during the reclamation process.

The contract is expected to commence on April 21, 2025, and will close on May 15, 2025.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, specifically at the coordinates 3717'31.45"N, 87 5'38.93"W.
