Background
The Commonwealth of Kentucky is issuing this Request for Bid (RFB-168-25) for the construction of a new District 11 Highway Department Maintenance Facility and Salt Structure in Whitley County. This project aims to replace an existing facility located at another site in Whitley County, enhancing the operational capabilities of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The project consists of two main structures along with complete site civil and utility work, which are essential for the maintenance operations of the highway department.

Work Details
The project includes the following components:

1. **Civil Work**: Site preparation and grading, including earthwork to create building pads and manage drainage.

2. **Site Utilities**: Installation of communications, electric, gas, sewer, and water services to the buildings as well as to the Salt Structure. General site lighting will also be provided.

3. **Maintenance Facility**: Construction of an 8,000 square foot Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) that will include a large garage space, storage area, offices, restrooms, showers, and break facilities for approximately 20 staff members. The building will be insulated to meet energy codes and will feature various interior finishes including epoxy flooring and acoustic tile ceilings. Plumbing will include water distribution for restrooms and a trench drain in the garage space. Mechanical systems will provide heating and ventilation for both office areas and garage space. Electrical work will encompass LED lighting and power systems.

4. **Section Engineer Office**: A new 2,000 square foot light wood frame construction office building with pre-engineered wood trusses on a reinforced concrete slab foundation. The office will include painted gypsum board assemblies, acoustic tile ceilings, rubber base & epoxy flooring throughout, HVAC systems for climate control, and plumbing facilities including toilets and a kitchenette.
