Master Plan Update for Big Rock Area in Cherokee Park

Background
The Olmsted Parks Conservancy (OPC), in collaboration with Louisville Parks and Recreation (LPR) and Metro Louisville Public Works (PW), is seeking proposals from consultant teams for the Master Plan Update for the Big Rock area in Cherokee Park.
The goal of this contract is to develop an updated Renewal, Restoration, and Revitalization Master Plan that addresses public access, safety, and the ecological integrity of this historically significant site.

Work Details
The selected consultant will provide professional services including community and neighbor engagement, landscape architecture, traffic engineering, and natural resource services.
The project will involve reviewing existing planning documents, facilitating community engagement beyond traditional formats, and producing a comprehensive site plan informed by public input.
Specific tasks include:
1. Assessing existing facilities and connections for bike, pedestrian, and vehicle access.
2. Engaging with park neighbors and users to gather diverse perspectives.
3. Developing a final deliverable that includes data analysis, community feedback results, a recommended implementation plan, necessary mapping, and renewal strategies.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon award and is expected to be completed within a specified timeframe as detailed in the proposal submissions.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed in the Big Rock area of Cherokee Park located in Louisville, Kentucky.

Bidder Requirements
Proposers must comply with affirmative action requirements related to employment and subcontracting of Minority, Female, and Handicapped-owned businesses as mandated by the Louisville Human Relations Commission.
Proposers must also demonstrate their ability to engage local businesses in at least 75% of the services under the contract unless such services are unavailable locally.
