Legal Services-Complex Litigation Panel Counsel

Background
The Commonwealth of Kentucky, through the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), seeks proposals for legal services to establish contracts with legal counsel. This initiative is aimed at independently retaining legal counsel on an 'as needed, if needed' basis to assist with investigations and legal actions against potential parties for violations of the Kentucky Consumer Protection Act and other relevant statutes.

The OAG's mission includes protecting Kentucky consumers from deceptive acts and misrepresentations.

Work Details
The selected legal counsel will provide services including:
- Assisting with investigations and litigation related to violations of the Kentucky Consumer Protection Act, Medicaid, antitrust laws, and other state or federal statutes.
- Reviewing documents obtained through Civil Investigative Demands and Subpoenas.
- Recommending courses of action including civil suits.
- Coordinating litigation with other states and federal entities.
- Taking depositions and preparing witnesses.
- Responding to motions and identifying expert witnesses.
- Representing the Commonwealth in trials and settlement negotiations.
- Preserving pertinent records for at least eight years after contract completion.

The contract may also be extended to include additional claims as directed by the OAG.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon award and will remain effective until terminated or completed, with a potential extension for additional claims as determined by the OAG.

Place of Performance
Legal services will be performed primarily within the Commonwealth of Kentucky, but may also involve work in major metropolitan areas across the country as necessary.
