Verdigris River Low-Head Dam Inspection & Improvements

Background
The City of Independence, Kansas, is seeking sealed bids for the inspection and improvements of the Verdigris River Low-Head Dam. This project aims to enhance the safety and functionality of the dam, which is crucial for local water management and flood control. The City has prepared comprehensive contract documents detailing the specifications and requirements for this public improvement project.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for providing all labor, tools, equipment, materials, and transportation necessary to complete the work as specified in the contract documents. Key tasks include:
1. Mobilization
2. Clearing, Grubbing & Site Preparation
3. Erosion & Sediment Control
4. Traffic Control
5. Temporary Cofferdam
6. Concrete Dam Repair (71 cubic yards)
7. Rock Riprap (d50=18 inches, 18 cubic yards)
Additionally, there are bid alternates for miscellaneous concrete repair and cofferdam evacuation.

Period of Performance
The contractor is expected to commence work upon receiving a Notice to Proceed from the City and must complete all work within 90 working days. The final completion date is set at 120 working days.

The work will be performed at the Verdigris River Low-Head Dam located in Independence, Kansas.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must submit a bid security of 5% of the total bid amount in the form of a cashier's check or certified check made payable to the City of Independence. Additionally, bidders must be registered with the Kansas Secretary of State if they are non-resident corporations or individuals. A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held for all interested bidders.
