COMCARE Community Crisis Relocation and Expansion

Background
The COMCARE Community Crisis Relocation and Expansion project is initiated by Sedgwick County, Kansas. It aims to renovate and convert an existing two-story brick masonry building into a substance abuse and stabilization care center. The project site is located at 235 S Topeka Avenue in downtown Wichita, adjacent to the Wichita Biomed Center. The goal of this contract is to provide necessary renovations and expansions to support community mental health services.

Work Details
The project involves the renovation of an existing two-story structure with approximately 35,121 square feet of usable space. It includes a 900 square foot expansion to provide lobby space with an elevator and stairs. Bidders are required to furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and perform the work in strict accordance with the bidding documents. The work must comply with all federal, state, local laws, ordinances, and building codes including the 2010 Standards for Accessible Design.

Period of Performance
The contract period will begin upon issuance of a Notice to Proceed and is expected to be completed by December 31, 2026.

The work will be performed at 235 S Topeka Ave, Wichita, KS 67202.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be licensed to do business in Sedgwick County or have applied for a reciprocal license. They must submit a Certificate of Insurance with their bid. All prime bidders must maintain an office within Sedgwick County or establish one prior to contract award. Bidders are required to provide proof of registration with the Kansas Director of Taxation and Secretary of State if applicable. A Bid Security of at least 5% of the bid amount is required.
