Digital Radios, Airtime Services, Equipment, and Related Items

Background
Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD) is a K-12 public school district located in Fort Bend County, Texas, serving over 78,000 students across 83 campuses. The district is seeking proposals for Digital Radios, Airtime Services, Equipment, and Related Items to enhance its existing two-way radio system utilized by its school bus fleet. The goal of this contract is to ensure reliable communication for daily transportation operations and emergency coordination.

Work Details
The selected vendor will provide the following services and products:

1. Digital Radios compatible with the existing Kenwood NEXEDGE system, including:
- System setup and activation
- Programming or configuration for two-way communications
- Support services

2. Airtime Services that ensure reliable coverage across district facilities and transportation routes.

3. If the proposed airtime service is not compatible with existing radios, the vendor must provide new digital radios along with associated costs, installation services (including removal of existing equipment), and a trade-in or credit program for existing radios.

4. Implementation of features such as:
- Emergency Declaration capability
- Digital transmissions on specified bandwidths
- Telemetry capabilities
- Intelligent channel steering and audio routing

5. Installation of radios in over 450 school buses, ensuring operational readiness by July 2026.

Period of Performance
The contract will be effective for three years from the date of award, with an option to renew for two additional one-year terms. Implementation of services is anticipated during Summer 2026 (June-July).

Place of Performance
Services will be performed within the geographic boundaries of Fort Bend Independent School District, Texas.

Bidder Requirements
Vendors must be authorized dealers of the proposed equipment and comply with all applicable provisions of the Texas Education Code and Government Code. They must also provide a valid Certificate of Insurance upon contract award and execute any additional Fort Bend ISD contract documents as required.
