The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a vendor to perform medical screening and fit testing for staff to ensure compliance with OSHA respiratory requirements. Work Details
The vendor will provide medical screening for clearance and fit testing of staff to N95 masks. The services include:
- Medical evaluations to determine clearance for disposable filtering facepiece respirators, including N95s and reusable air-purifying respirators.
- Fit testing must comply with OSHA standards (1910.134) and be performed using an OSHA-approved method.
- Vendor staff must include 1 Occupational Medicine Physician and 1 Occupational Health Nurse.
- Approximately 50 existing surveyor positions require fit testing, with plans to hire an additional 200 surveyors over the next two years.
- Estimated volumes per year include:
- (125) New Hire Initial Questionnaire Review/Fit Test
- (12) Potential Physical Medical Evaluations
- (12) Potential EKGs
- (12) Potential Pulmonary Function Tests
- (12) Potential Chest X-Rays.
- All reports must be emailed to IDPH weekly. Fit testing will occur during business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM CST as needed.
Period of Performance
The estimated contract term is 60 months.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at multiple locations in Northern Illinois, specifically within 20 miles of designated facilities in Westchester, Chicago, and Rockford.
Bidder Requirements
The vendor must be an Environmental & Occupational Health Provider with the following qualifications:
- Staff must consist of an Occupational Medicine Physician and an Occupational Health Nurse.
- Vendor cannot subcontract these services.
- Must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws related to the performance of this contract.
