Tree Trimming

Background
The City of Geneva, Illinois, is seeking bids for the 'FY2025-2027 Geneva Tree Trimming Contract.' The purpose of this contract is to provide labor and equipment for tree trimming under overhead electric lines within the city limits. The work is essential to maintain safety and accessibility around energized electric lines.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for trimming trees around energized overhead electric lines in various locations throughout the City of Geneva. Trimming must be performed at the request of the City within a reasonable timeframe for non-emergency situations and within 2 hours for emergency requests. For emergencies, at least two crews must be available if requested. Additional trimming requested by residents or businesses during city-requested work is prohibited unless pre-approved by the Superintendent of Electrical Services.

All work must comply with ANSI and OSHA standards for safety and quality tree trimming practices. The contract includes a budget of $217,000 per year for two years, with an optional extension for an additional year.

Period of Performance
The contract will span 24 months with an option for an additional 12 months, commencing upon award.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed within the borders of the City of Geneva, Illinois.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must provide evidence of experience in similar work, including certifications such as Certified Line Clearance Tree Trimmer by ACRT or equivalent. All employees must have EHAP (Electrical Hazard Awareness Program) certification before starting work. Bidders are required to submit a bid bond of $5,000 and a performance bond equal to one year's allocation upon contract award.
