Request for Proposals for Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Treatments

Background
The Village of Northbrook is seeking proposals for the treatment of parkway Ash trees to prevent Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) infestation. The contract aims to protect public trees and maintain the health of the urban forest in Northbrook, Illinois.

Work Details
The contractor will provide all necessary labor, equipment, materials, and supplies for the treatment of 258 parkway Ash trees with trunk diameters ranging from 10 inches to 34.5 inches, totaling 5,244 inches diameter at breast height (DBH).

The treatment will involve injections using Mectinite or Tree Age G4® at a rate of 5mL/DBH inch. The contractor must also procure all necessary permits and insurance, pay applicable taxes, and ensure that all work is performed in compliance with professional standards.

Additionally, if required by weather conditions, the contractor may need to water trees prior to treatment to ensure successful absorption of chemicals. The work must begin after May 1, 2025, and be completed by August 31, 2025.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence on May 1, 2025, and will terminate on April 30, 2026. The term may be extended for up to three additional one-year periods upon mutual agreement.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at various locations within the Village of Northbrook, Illinois.

Bidder Requirements
Contractors must have extensive experience in municipal tree maintenance and provide at least three references from current clients served in the past three years. A Certified Arborist must manage each crew during the work. Contractors are required to obtain an annual Contractor Business License before commencing any work within the Village.
