ReBid Scrap Metal and Material Removal

Background
The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) is seeking a vendor to remove scrap metal and material from the Dixon Correctional Center in Dixon, Illinois. This contract aims to facilitate the removal of scrap metal as part of a revenue-generating initiative, with the contract awarded to the highest bidder.

Work Details
The vendor will be responsible for removing all scrap metal from designated areas on the Dixon Correctional Grounds, including all types of metals and old farm equipment. The vendor must provide necessary removal equipment such as skid steers, backhoes, track hoes, dumpsters, tandem trucks, and semi-tractor trailers.

The vendor is also responsible for ensuring safety on campus grounds and must adhere to all state, federal, and local laws regarding recycling and transportation. They will transport all scrap materials away from the facility and must provide weight documentation for scrap sales to IDOC.

Additionally, if any traffic signs or markers are found among the scrap, they must be shredded or otherwise reduced to scrap without being sold. The vendor must be EPA certified for refrigerant reclamation when disposing of air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

Period of Performance
The contract is expected to commence upon execution and continue through July 30, 2026. The vendor has a maximum of 14 calendar days for planning discussions followed by another 14 calendar days for service completion.

Place of Performance
All services will be performed at the Dixon Correctional Center located at 2600 N Brinton Ave, Dixon, Illinois 61021.

Bidder Requirements
Vendors must be fully insured and able to provide documentation upon request. They are required to comply with all applicable laws and regulations related to recycling and transportation. Subcontractors may be utilized but must meet specific certification requirements if their contracts exceed $100,000.
