NOT A BIDDING OPPORTUNITY - EMERGENCY EXTENSION - FY25 DHS Ludeman Kitchen Remediation Services

Background
The Department of Human Services (DHS) is extending an emergency contract for kitchen remediation services at the Elisabeth Ludeman Center due to unsafe conditions that arose from mold in the temporary kitchen facilities. The original kitchen facilities were closed approximately ten years ago, and a temporary solution was implemented until a permanent solution could be established. The extension is necessary to allow the current vendor, Nichols Enterprises, LLC, additional time to complete the remediation work.

Work Details
Nichols Enterprises, LLC, is responsible for providing all labor and materials necessary to fully remediate mold found in the main kitchen of the Ludeman Developmental Center. This includes addressing unsafe black mold conditions discovered in mid-August 2024 and ensuring that food service can continue safely for residents.

Period of Performance
The original emergency contract was set to end on May 18, 2025. The extension will begin on May 19, 2025, and will last until June 30, 2025.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Elisabeth Ludeman Center located at 114 N. Orchard Drive, Park Forest, IL 60466.

Bidder Requirements
There are no specific set-aside certifications or requirements mentioned for this contract. Although there was potential for Business Enterprise Program (BEP) participation of up to 29%, the vendor chose not to utilize a BEP vendor.
