Background
The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (ISTHA) is issuing this solicitation for the installation of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment along the Tri-State Tollway (I-294). The goal of this contract, identified as I-26-2038, is to install various ITS devices and fiber optic systems between Mile Post 17.5 and Mile Post 39.8 in Cook County and DuPage County, Illinois.
Work Details
The work under this contract includes:
1. Installation of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment at Intermediate Power Distribution and Communication (IPDC) facility buildings.
2. Installation of ITS equipment cabinets.
3. Furnishing and installation of ATM structures and lane control signs (LCS).
4. Installation of Dynamic Message Signs (DMS).
5. Installation of Closed Circuit Television cameras (CCTV).
6. Installation of Microwave Vehicle Detection Systems (MVDS).
7. Erection of ITS galvanized steel poles.
8. Provision of all communication and power equipment and wiring necessary to operate the ITS equipment.
9. Removal of existing temporary ITS equipment.
10. Installation of new fiber optic communication cable and network switches for the Illinois Tollway's ITS and IT system.
11. Third-party fiber optic cable installation.
12. Connection to the existing IT system via the Plazas.
13. Maintenance of Traffic during construction activities.
14. All other appurtenances and miscellaneous construction as shown in the plans and special provisions.
Period of Performance
The work is scheduled to commence on or about August 17, 2026, with a completion date set for October 1, 2028.

The services will be performed along the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) between Mile Post 17.5 and Mile Post 39.8 in Cook County and DuPage County, Illinois.
