Background
The Illinois Secretary of State is seeking bids for the repair of ADA snow melt and lighting ramp at the Howlett Building located at 501 S. 2nd St., Springfield, IL 62756. The goal of this contract is to ensure compliance with ADA standards while enhancing safety and accessibility for individuals using the ramp.
Work Details
The contractor is responsible for all materials, equipment, supplies, labor, disposal services, incidentals, tools, and transportation necessary for the project. Specific tasks include:
- Removing existing concrete walk, electric heating cables, steel decking, and insulation;
- Installing new snow melt heating cables and concrete;
- Providing a new Delta Therm Snow Melt System or equivalent;
- Salvaging and reinstalling handrails;
- Replacing control panels;
- Providing new lamps and holders for the existing lighting plan;
- Ensuring compliance with applicable building codes;
- Managing debris removal;
- Implementing safety measures during construction;
- Securing materials on-site.
The contractor must also be pre-qualified by the State of Illinois Capital Development Board and have at least 7 years of experience in snow melt system repairs.
Period of Performance
The initial term of the contract is two years upon execution. The total term may not exceed ten years including any renewal terms or extensions.
