Background
The Illinois Veterans’ Home Chicago, part of the Department of Veterans Affairs, is seeking a vendor to provide fire alarm inspection services. The goal of this contract is to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards for fire alarm systems and related equipment within the facility.
Work Details
The vendor will provide labor and materials for quarterly, semi-annual, and annual inspections, testing, and repairs of the fire alarm system and devices. This includes wet pipe sprinkler systems, dry pipe sprinkler systems, pre-action sprinkler systems, and chemical suppression systems for kitchen exhaust hoods. Inspections must comply with the latest National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards. Specific tasks include:
- Documenting all inspections with details such as name of inspection, date, required frequency, company contact information, applicable NFPA standard followed, and results (Pass/Fail).
- Addressing any failures by documenting issues and discussing repairs or replacements with facility contacts.
- Conducting inspections during specified hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM for most systems; after hours for chemical suppression systems.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements from state agencies like the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).
- The vendor must inspect a total of 17 kitchen hood systems and various fire alarm devices including heat detectors, smoke detectors, manual pull stations, duct detectors, relays, speakers, and more. All parts purchased will be reimbursed at cost upon submission of receipts.
Period of Performance
The contract has an initial term of 12 months starting upon the last dated signature of the parties involved. The maximum total term may extend up to ten years including renewals.
Place of Performance
Services will be performed at the Illinois Veterans’ Home Chicago located at 4250 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60634.
Bidder Requirements
Vendors must comply with Standard Illinois Certifications throughout the contract duration. They must certify that they are not in default on educational loans or have not received early retirement incentives under specified sections of the Illinois Pension Code. Vendors must also be legal entities authorized to conduct business in Illinois and maintain necessary insurance coverage including general liability and worker’s compensation.
