Emergency Extension Notice 6 -Fiber Maintenance with Meade

Background
The Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) is responsible for managing the state's fiber optic infrastructure. The contract extension with Meade, Inc. is necessary due to an emergency situation arising from the sale of the James R. Thompson Center (JRTC) to Google, which required the relocation of state-owned fiber networks. This contract aims to ensure continued maintenance and restoration services for critical fiber optic infrastructure in Region 1, which includes McHenry, Lake, Dupage, Kane, Cook, and Will counties.

Work Details
Meade, Inc. will provide emergency maintenance and restoration services for approximately 1200 miles of fiber optic cable infrastructure. The work includes:
- Completion of Phase 1 of the JRTC fiber relocation project.
- Installation and repair of conduit along designated streets.
- Phase 2 work including installation of LaSalle Street fiber, hand-hole placement, conduit placement, splice work at City Hall, fiber installation, and termination.
- Ongoing maintenance services to prevent prolonged network outages due to damage from construction or other incidents.

Period of Performance
The expected extension period is from August 1, 2024, to September 30, 2024.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed in Region 1 consisting of McHenry, Lake, Kane, Dupage, Cook, and Will counties in Illinois.
