EMA - Alpha Spectroscopy Lab Services

Background
The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS) is seeking laboratory services to conduct alpha spectroscopy analysis on soil samples as part of a uranium and thorium contamination investigation.
The goal of this contract is to analyze samples collected from various locations to assess contamination levels.

Work Details
The contractor will provide the following laboratory services:
1. Receipt of samples with chain of custody documentation provided to IEMA-OHS.
2. Alpha spectroscopy analysis of radionuclides in the Uranium-238 decay chain, specifically U-238, U-234, and Th-230 for one sample from each location.
3. Alpha spectroscopy analysis of radionuclides in the Thorium-232 decay chain, specifically Th-232 and Th-228 for the second sample from each location.
4. A total of approximately 110 samples will be analyzed, including samples from about 50 investigation locations and approximately 5 background locations.
5. An analytical report and/or certificate of analysis will be provided to IEMA-OHS along with quality control documentation.
6. Disposal of residual sample materials.

Period of Performance

Place of Performance
Laboratory services will be performed at a facility capable of conducting alpha spectroscopy analysis.

Bidder Requirements
Vendors must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including tax requirements and necessary licenses for performing laboratory analyses.
Vendors are also required to maintain insurance coverage as specified in the contract terms.
