Downtown Library Bathroom Remodeling

Background
The City of Rock Island is seeking bids for a rehabilitation project at the Downtown Library. The goal of this project is to remodel the lower level restrooms to meet current accessibility standards and improve overall functionality while ensuring the library remains operational during construction.

Work Details
The contractor will act as the general contractor and is responsible for submitting a project plan that complies with all applicable regulations, including those from the City of Rock Island, EPA, and State of Illinois. The scope of work includes:

- Demolition of the existing basement bathroom.
- Removal of floor tile and baseboard tile.
- Construction of new ADA paths of egress with specified fixture heights.
- Installation of ADA-compliant fixtures, including hand dryers, automated plumbing fixtures (faucets & water closets), and exhaust fans.
- Installation of motion sensor lighting and a locking deadbolt labeled 'Occupied'.
- Addition of ADA grab bars, soap dispensers, lockable toilet paper holders, and feminine hygiene dispensers in all restrooms.
- Tiling or similar finishes for bathroom walls and installation of solid surface countertops with matching backsplashes.
- Acoustic ceiling rework and installation of a vented floor drain in the new bathroom.
- Daily cleanup to maintain a safe work environment while the library remains open.

Period of Performance
The contractor shall complete the work within 90 days from the date of contract signing.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Downtown Library located at 401 19th Street, Rock Island, IL 61201.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be licensed with the Illinois Secretary of State, bonded, and insured. They must provide proof of General Liability, Vehicle, and Workers Compensation Insurances naming the City of Rock Island as a Certificate Holder. A bid bond of 10% is required at bid opening. Bidders must also adhere to Federal Davis Bacon prevailing wage rates.
