Cook ES - Cafeteria Project - Open to contracted pre-qualified pool for Various Trade ONLY

Background
The Cook ES Cafeteria Project is initiated by the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to renovate the cafeteria at Cook Elementary School located at 8150 S Bishop St, Chicago, IL. The goal of this contract is to enhance the cafeteria facilities by providing necessary renovations including flooring, ceiling, wall paneling, and painting. The project aims to ensure compliance with CPS standards while improving the overall functionality and aesthetics of the cafeteria space.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision necessary for the cafeteria renovations which include:

1. Removal and replacement of floor tile with required subfloor preparation;
2. Replacement of ceiling tiles throughout the cafeteria;
3. Installation of FRP wall panels;
4. Painting of walls.

Specific requirements include:
- Floor tile removal must include abatement of regulated materials as per MEC Manual abatement design documents;
- If not qualified for abatement, a licensed environmental contractor must be subcontracted;
- All work must comply with CPS Specifications including sections on resilient flooring, construction waste management, and interior painting;
- The contractor is responsible for verifying quantities and providing closeout documentation;
- Necessary permits must be secured by the contractor;
- All trash and debris must be removed off-site by the contractor.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence after the mandatory site visit on April 28, 2026, with bids due by May 7, 2026. The exact duration of performance will be determined based on project scheduling but should align with normal working hours.

The work will be performed at Cook Elementary School located at 8150 S Bishop St, Chicago, IL.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be signatory to relevant unions if their bid price exceeds $25,000 as per terms of the Various Trades Contract and Project Labor Agreement. For bids over $75,000, inclusion of MBE/WBE subcontractors and relevant forms is mandatory at the time of bid submission.
