Swim Instruction Service Provider

Background
Des Moines Public Schools (DMPS) Community Education is seeking proposals from qualified service providers to deliver youth swim instruction at designated DMPS facilities during the 2025–2026 school year. The goal is to expand access to high-quality, age-appropriate swim lessons for students ages 3 to 12 in a centrally located, warm-water pool setting.

Work Details
The selected provider will be responsible for delivering group swim instruction to youth ages 3–12 in 30-minute sessions. This includes supplying a minimum of 4 adult swim instructors per time block, with additional staff potentially allowing for private lesson offerings.

The program will consist of sessions offered in 3- or 4-week blocks, two times per week (e.g., Monday & Wednesday), with optional one-time weekly offerings for families needing more flexibility. Time slots are set for 4:30–5:00 PM, 5:10–5:40 PM, and 5:50–6:20 PM. Each session will have a minimum of 8 participants and a maximum of 16.

The provider must also manage attendance tracking and coordinate with DMPS staff. Insurance and background checks are required for all instructors, and collaboration with DMPS Community Education staff for marketing and registration coordination is expected.

Period of Performance
The contract will initiate services on September 15, 2025, and cover the entire school year through May 2026.

Place of Performance
Swim instruction will occur at the Ruby Van Meter warm-water pool or other designated DMPS pool facilities in Des Moines, Iowa.

Bidder Requirements
Proposals must include proof of liability insurance and verification of background checks for all instructors. Additionally, proposers must demonstrate relevant experience providing swim instruction or similar services.
