RFP for Consulting Services for the Development of a Climate Action Plan for Governmental Operations

Background
Story County, Iowa is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to facilitate the development of greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals and a Climate Action Plan (CAP) specifically for governmental operations.

This initiative aligns with the County's commitment to addressing climate change and follows the approval of Resolution #22-52, which established the Story County Climate Resilience Leadership Strategy. The selected consultant will work closely with the Go Green Team and the Board of Supervisors to create a practical and fiscally-responsible plan that identifies carbon reduction goals and strategies.

Work Details
The consultant will be responsible for:
1. Assessing the County’s GHG footprint and baseline emissions through 2050.
2. Describing climate actions linked to the Multi-Jurisdictional Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan, including their anticipated impact on emissions.
3. Offering additional measures for further reducing the County's footprint.
4. Assessing climate change risks across various sectors and populations within the County.
5. Providing recommendations for climate-resilient strategies.

The scope includes evaluating emissions from County-owned buildings, fleet vehicles, and operations, focusing solely on governmental operations without extending to private sector or community emissions.

Period of Performance
The contract is expected to commence on December 18, 2024, following Board of Supervisors action on the contract on December 17, 2024.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed in Story County, Iowa.
