Inspectors must be trained in these codes and have at least three years of relevant experience. A licensed professional electrical engineer registered in Iowa must supervise all inspection work.
The contractor is responsible for providing qualified inspectors, necessary equipment, transportation, and materials for conducting visual inspections. Inspections will cover various conditions including:
- Pole integrity (leaning, rotting, insect damage)
- Metal structures (oxidation, grounding)
- Crossarms (decay)
- Hardware integrity (missing or loose components)
- Insulator conditions (chipped or broken)
- Conductor clearances from structures
- Overall safety compliance.
Reports detailing findings are due within 15 business days after inspections are completed and must include specific data points such as map numbers and nearest pole numbers to violations.
Period of Performance
The contract period begins on July 1, 2026, and ends on June 30, 2027. It may be renewed for up to four additional one-year terms based on mutual agreement.
