Film Scanner

Background
The University of Iowa, a prominent public university located in Iowa City, Iowa, is seeking proposals from qualified suppliers to provide an upgradable film scanner for coursework and archival purposes. The university is recognized for its academic achievements and leadership in research, with a significant budget and a large faculty and staff base. This solicitation aims to enhance the university's capabilities in preserving and processing film materials.

Work Details
The contract requires the provision of a film scanner that meets specific requirements: it must process 16mm and super 16mm film, with the capability to upgrade for 8mm and super 8mm without needing a new system. The scanner must support various film types including negative, interpositive, print, reversal, color, and black and white. Key specifications include:

- High dynamic range scanning for print film
- Handling of damaged or warped films
- 5K resolution output or higher (including Pro-Res and JPEG 2000)
- High MTF resolution lens
- Scanning at 30 frames per second
- Optical/magnetic sound reading in tandem with image scanning

Additionally, it is preferable that the scanner can be upgraded to handle 35mm film without purchasing a new system.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon award and is expected to be fulfilled by the beginning of the Fall 2025 semester or as soon as possible thereafter.

Place of Performance
The services will be performed at the University of Iowa located in Iowa City, Iowa.

Bidder Requirements
Suppliers must be licensed to do business in the State of Iowa. They are required to comply with all applicable laws regarding business permits and licenses. Additionally, suppliers must provide proof of adequate financial resources and experience in providing similar products/services. The successful supplier must also agree to the University's Business Associate Agreement if handling patient information.
