PPCA Perimeter Fence Removal and Construction, Hawaii District

Background
The State of Hawaii’s Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) is seeking bids for the removal of an old existing fence and the construction of a new approximately 690-meter perimeter fence around the Pōhakuloa Pens and Cabin Area. This project aims to secure the area from feral animals such as sheep, goats, and pigs, while also protecting resources within the area. The contractor will be required to provide performance and payment bonds to ensure project completion and payment for materials or labor debts.

Work Details
The work includes:
1) Clearing and constructing approximately 690 meters of new fence around the project area;
2) Deconstructing and consolidating sections of the old existing fence.

The initial award will be for 690 meters of new fence construction, with a contingency for up to 759 meters if additional length is required. The specifications include using ungulate-proof fencing materials such as high tensile steel woven wire, galvanized steel posts, and various hardware components. The contractor must also manage site preparation, including vegetation clearing along the fence corridor while adhering to environmental protections for native species.

Period of Performance
The contract period will commence upon award and is expected to be completed by April 30, 2026.
