Background
The Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) in Hawaii is seeking a consultant to conduct an archaeological literature review and field inspection for a portion of the Manuka Natural Area Reserve. The goal of this contract is to identify and record any surface historic properties in the project area as part of the proposed construction of a road and ungulate-proof fence.

Work Details
The contractor will perform an archaeological literature review and field inspection (LRFI) for the Manuka Natural Area Reserve, specifically focusing on the proposed construction site. Key tasks include:

1. Conducting a survey and review of relevant literature.
2. Developing a written field survey strategy.
3. Performing a field inspection to identify surface historic properties, including at least one known historic trail in the area.
4. Preparing a report based on findings that includes maps showing locations of survey findings, descriptions, sketches, photographs, and preliminary significance statements for each site located. The report will also include map packages with shapefiles and GPS data points.

The proposed road will be widened from 8 feet to 18 feet over approximately 1 mile and extended by an additional 1.1 miles. The fenceline will extend approximately 3.1 miles using steel hog panels supported by galvanized coated T-posts.

Period of Performance
The deliverables must be provided within five (5) months from the issuance of the Purchase Order.

Place of Performance
The work will take place at the Manuka Natural Area Reserve on the Island of Hawaii.
