Honolulu Zoo Orangutan/Siamang Renovations

Background
The City and County of Honolulu is issuing a solicitation for the renovation of the Orangutan and Siamang exhibits at the Honolulu Zoo, with an estimated cost of $549,000.
The project aims to enhance the living conditions for these animals as part of the zoo's mission to provide quality care and education about wildlife.
The renovations will include construction improvements and necessary infrastructure upgrades.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
- Construction of a new concrete walkway and slab on grade.
- Construction of a new siamang night holding area, which includes new CMU walls, a concrete roof with gutters and downspouts, welded wire mesh interior walls, windows and doors with framing, shift door, guillotine doors, food chute, and animal blood draw portal.
- Construction of a new day pen that includes installation of chain link fencing and framing, keeper access door, shift door, and transfer cage gate.
- Electrical improvements including installation of a new electrical panel box, outlets, switches, and both interior and exterior lighting.
- Plumbing improvements including installation of a new trench drain, hose bibs, water feeders, and venting systems.
- Installation of a new sheet metal guard along the perimeter of the existing orangutan habitat.

Period of Performance
The contract duration is 365 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed (NTP).
Active onsite work shall be limited to 180 consecutive calendar days unless otherwise directed by the City.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Honolulu Zoo located at 151 Kapahulu Avenue, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii.

Bidder Requirements
Offerors must be licensed under Chapter 444 of Hawaii Revised Statutes relating to contractor licensing.
Additionally, bidders are required to comply with HRS §103B regarding employment of state residents on construction projects which mandates that at least 80% of the workforce must be Hawaii residents.
