TIA-13: Hickory Grove Rd. & Skipper Bridge Rd Widening

Background
Lowndes County is issuing a contract for the widening and shoulder paving of Hickory Grove Road and Skipper Bridge Road. The project aims to improve road safety and infrastructure in the area, aligning with the county's mission to enhance transportation facilities. This work is part of a larger initiative to upgrade local roads and ensure they meet current standards.

Work Details
The project includes the following specific tasks:

1. Widening Hickory Grove Road (7.8 miles) and Skipper Bridge Road (8.8 miles) with a 2-foot shoulder widening using 440 lbs of 19 mm Superpave asphalt.
2. Grading per mile for both roads.
3. Application of bituminous tack coat before each lift.
4. Leveling course using 80 lbs OGI asphalt, totaling 11,469 tons.
5. Topping with 165 lbs of 12.5 mm Superpave asphalt, totaling 23,655 tons.
6. Milling of asphaltic concrete pavement at specified depths (6 inches and varying depths) across designated areas.
7. Installation of traffic control measures including rumble strips, road narrows signs, and thermoplastic pavement markings.
8. Permanent grassing (hydro-seed) across the project area.
9. Removal and replacement of existing curb and gutter where specified.

Period of Performance
The contract duration is set for 180 calendar days from the date specified in the Notice to Proceed.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed on Hickory Grove Road and Skipper Bridge Road within Lowndes County, Georgia.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be DOT approved contractors and are required to submit a bid bond of 5%. Additionally, all contractors must comply with the Georgia Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act by verifying their participation in a Federal Work Authorization Program.
