RFP 2024-015 Police Department Shop Expansion

Background
The City of Douglasville is seeking to expand the existing Police Department shop building by adding 1,801 square feet of new construction for motor vehicle repair.
This expansion will also include a 1,720-square-foot open vehicle storage shelter/pavilion for RV and ATV storage.
The project aims to enhance the operational capabilities of the Police Department.

Work Details
The project includes the following scope of services:
- Obtain all necessary permits for construction.
- Schedule required inspections with City Staff.
- Supply or retain design professionals for permit drawings.
- Maintain on-site management staff for construction oversight.
- Develop and maintain a detailed project schedule covering delivery, approvals, inspections, testing, construction, and occupancy milestones.
- Conduct regular job meetings and document them.
- Maintain a system for shop drawing review and approval.
- Submit bi-weekly progress reports and maintain records.
- Ensure quality control throughout construction to conform to plans.
- Provide cost control aligned with approved schedules and contract amounts.
- Ensure foundations are supported on suitable bearing material as determined by the City's geotechnical representative.
- Compact subgrade to 98% of standard proctor specification.
- Install mechanical, electrical, and plumbing structures as per plans while preserving existing utilities.
- Provide and install new equipment according to an approved schedule.
- Construct millwork, masonry, structural steel, foundations, concrete, metal deck, framing, and light gauge metal trusses as per Exhibit A.
- Remove and replace curbs, gutters, and asphalt as indicated in plans; apply new striping for any new paving; provide an alternate bid for sealing and restriping the parking lot; remove and replace 4” PVC sleeves for irrigation; ensure the existing shop remains operable during expansion; paint structures according to Exhibit A; send submittals to Architect and Owner for approval.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon execution between the City of Douglasville and the successful proposer following the proposal submission deadline on November 18, 2024.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Douglasville Police Department located at 2083 Fairburn Road, Douglasville, GA 30134.
