Notice of Intent to Advertise - Design Build Johnson Ferry Road at Shallowford Road Project

Background
The Cobb County Department of Transportation (Cobb DOT) is issuing a Notice of Intent to Advertise for design build services for the Johnson Ferry Road at Shallowford Road project. The goal of this contract is to improve the intersection of Johnson Ferry Road and Shallowford Road in Cobb County, GA, enhancing traffic flow and safety.

Work Details
The contractor will provide design and construction services necessary to widen and reconfigure the eastbound approach to the intersection. This includes:
- Construction of a dedicated left-turn lane
- A single eastbound through lane
- A dedicated right-turn lane
- Reconfiguration of the westbound approach to provide dual left-turn lanes and dual westbound through lanes
- Widening of the eastbound approach to align through movement across the intersection
- Addition of raised medians for access control at commercial driveways
- Replacement of all existing traffic signal and pedestrian signal control components.
All work must comply with requirements set forth in the Request for Proposals (RFP).

Period of Performance
The project timeline includes key dates such as the issuance of the Request for Proposals on November 21, 2025, receipt of proposals on January 22, 2026, and opening of price proposals on February 12, 2026.

Place of Performance
The contract will be performed at the intersection of Johnson Ferry Road and Shallowford Road in Cobb County, Georgia.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be prequalified by Georgia DOT or Cobb DOT in specific Area Classes relevant to their work on the project. The Lead Design Consultant must be prequalified in Urban Roadway Design (Area Class 3.02). Additional required qualifications include NEPA Documentation, Traffic Operations Studies, Construction Engineering, and various environmental studies.
