Description

This project includes (16) sixteen separate work areas that serve as the baseline for this scope. The primary scope of work will be to extend the Runway (RW) 26R Runway Safety Area 200' to the east, including the relocation of the RW 8L localizer and adjustments to the RW 26R MALSR 1,000'-station which are required to support the relocation of the localizer and extension of the RW 8L RSA 100' to the west. The remaining scope includes grading and drainage improvements to eliminate ponding and erosion issues along RW 8L/26R, RW 8R/26L, and associated taxiways and relocating objects outside the Runway and Taxiway Safety Areas.
Background
The City of Atlanta's Department of Aviation is issuing this solicitation for the North Airfield Area Safety and Grading Improvements project at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (H-JAIA).

The project aims to enhance airfield safety operations through various modifications, including grading and drainage improvements. The goal is to ensure compliance with safety standards while addressing existing issues such as ponding and erosion.

Work Details
The project includes the following key components:
- Extend the Runway 26R Safety Area by 200 feet to the east.
- Relocate the RW 8L localizer approximately 200 feet east on a new foundation.
- Adjust MALSR light bars to grade.
- Perform grading for airfield safety area compliance, including approximately 17,500 cubic yards of in-place embankment and 138,000 square yards of selective grading.
- Implement drainage improvements with approximately 800 linear feet of concrete drainage path, 1,400 linear feet of flat bottom ditch, and seven new concrete aprons around existing drainage structures.
- Install approximately 10,500 square yards of turf reinforcement mats for slope stabilization/repair.
- Miscellaneous repairs and adjustments to drainage structures and resetting one airfield sign on a new pad.

Period of Performance
The contract duration is set for 365 days from the Notice to Proceed (NTP) to Substantial Completion (SC), which includes a 60-day administrative period prior to construction.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (H-JAIA), specifically in the North Airfield Area.
