The City of Cumming, Georgia, d/b/a City of Cumming, GA (d/b/a Cumming Utilities Department) (Owner) is requesting Competitive Sealed Proposals (Bids) for the construction of the following Project: State Route 20 Water and Sewer Improvements Phase II and III Cumming Utilities Project No. 694 Garver Project No. 2302128 Bids for the construction of the Project will be received by the City of Cumming, Utilities Department at City Hall, 100 Main Street, Cumming, GA 30040, until September 5, 2024 at 10:00 am local time. The selected Contractor will need to coordinate and schedule work activities with the GDOT road contractor, C.W. Matthews, Inc, as well as the other utility contractors in the construction zone. More specifically, the Work includes, but is not limited to, construction of the following: 1. Water Mains a. Installing two 16-inch potable water transmission mains, one on the north side and one on the south side, of SR 20. b. Installing 8-inch, 12-inch and 16-inch water distribution lines along the affected side roads of SR 20. c. Installing a 36-inch water line on the west side of Sawnee Dr (SR 306). d. Installing via trenchless method, 16-inch water line crossings under SR 20 in 24-inch steel casing to connect the 16-inch water transmission mains

The City of Cumming, Georgia, operating as the Cumming Utilities Department, is seeking Competitive Sealed Proposals for the construction of the State Route 20 Water and Sewer Improvements Phase II and III.
This project aims to enhance water and sewer infrastructure within the active Georgia Department of Transportation road improvement zones along State Route 20, also known as Canton Highway.
The selected contractor will need to coordinate with GDOT's road contractor and other utility contractors in the area.
Work Details
The project includes the following key components:
1. Water Mains:
a. Installation of two 16-inch potable water transmission mains on both sides of SR 20.
b. Installation of 8-inch, 12-inch, and 16-inch water distribution lines along affected side roads.
c. Installation of a 36-inch water line on the west side of Sawnee Dr (SR 306).
d. Trenchless installation of 16-inch water line crossings under SR 20 in a 24-inch steel casing to connect the transmission mains.
e. Abandonment of existing 8-inch cast iron water main along SR 20 and affected side road connections.
f. Relocation of existing water service connections and meters outside the required right-of-way (R/W).
g. Relocation of residential (5/8 X 3/4-inch) and commercial (2-inch dia. and under) water service connections outside R/W.
h. Relocation/replacement of large diameter commercial (6 and 8-inch dia.) combination fire line and domestic water meter vaults outside R/W.
i. Reclamation and reinstallation of usable fire hydrants from existing mains onto new installations.
2. Gravity Sanitary Sewer:
a. Installation of a 15-inch gravity sanitary sewer and manholes on the north side of SR 20 to clear roadway construction.
b. Abandonment of existing gravity sanitary sewer and manholes.
c. Trenchless installation of an 8-inch pipe crossing under SR 20 in steel casing to connect to the gravity sewer system.
3. Sanitary Sewer Pressure Force Main:
a. Installation of an 8-inch and a 10-inch sanitary sewer force main on the south side of SR 20 to clear roadway construction.
b. Abandonment of existing sanitary sewer force main.
Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence upon award, with bids due by September 5, 2024.
At that point, work schedules will be established in coordination with GDOT.
Place of Performance
The work will be performed along State Route 20 (Canton Highway) in Cumming, Georgia, specifically within areas designated for GDOT road improvements.
