Ferry for Sapelo Island

Background
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GDNR) is seeking proposals to establish a contract for the design, construction, and delivery of a new diesel propulsion passenger ferry vessel. This vessel will operate between the Meridian and Sapelo Island Marsh Ferry Terminals in McIntosh County, GA. The goal is to provide reliable ferry service for residents, workers, and visitors to Sapelo Island.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for developing design solutions and details consistent with the specifications provided. Key requirements include:

- The ferry must accommodate 150 passengers and 3 crew members, with provisions for hand-wheeled cargo.
- It should have an aluminum catamaran design, capable of transiting 5.2 nautical miles in less than 30 minutes at a minimum speed of 18 knots.
- The vessel must comply with USCG Subchapter T regulations and be designed for a service life of 25 years.
- Construction must include two passenger decks with climate-controlled areas, ADA compliant access, and dedicated cargo storage areas totaling at least 360 square feet.
- The ferry shall not have onboard potable water or toilet facilities.
- All materials and equipment must meet specified standards and regulatory requirements.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon issuance of the Notice to Proceed (NTP) and will continue through the completion of the construction phase until final acceptance of the vessel.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed in McIntosh County, Georgia, specifically at the Meridian Terminal Dock and Sapelo Island Marsh Landing.
