Etowah River Park Canoe Launch Construction

Background
The City of Canton is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to construct a canoe launch at Etowah River Park. This initiative is part of a partnership with the University of Georgia’s Capstone Program, aimed at addressing issues with the existing canoe launch which has been improperly engineered for high-energy river conditions. This has led to flooding and sediment accumulation. The goal of the project is to create a sustainable and functional canoe launch that anticipates future sedimentation risks and maintenance requirements.

Work Details
The contractor shall provide all elements shown on the engineered plans, which include:

- Shaping the terrain for a suitable launch platform with proper slope and drainage
- Grubbing and clearing
- Grading
- Concrete work
- Installation of gravel and aggregate
- Construction of an ADA compliant handrail
- Landscaping
- Complete grading
- Wayfinding and/or signage
- Erosion control measures
- Shoring and pumping
- Stabilization efforts
- Installation of permeable pavement (true grid)
- Retractable bollards
- Tree protection/limits of disturbance
- Lighting installation
- Sidewalk and curb construction.

The contractor must also obtain all required permits from local, state, and federal agencies.

Period of Performance
The time allowed for substantial completion is 120 days, with final completion and readiness for payment expected within 150 days from the issuance of a notice to proceed by the City.

The contract will be performed at Etowah River Park, located in Canton, Georgia.
