Bus Transportation Services for DeKalb County Senior Centers

Background
DeKalb County, Georgia, through its Department of Purchasing & Contracting, is seeking quotations for bus transportation services aimed at assisting seniors and individuals with disabilities. The goal is to ensure safe, comfortable, and respectful transportation to and from designated senior centers within DeKalb County. This initiative aligns with the county's mission to support its elderly population and those with limited mobility options.

Work Details
The selected contractor will provide transportation services that include:
- Transporting seniors (including those with disabilities) to and from DeKalb County Senior Centers.
- Establishing a bus route that picks up multiple seniors from their residences within DeKalb County and drops them off at assigned senior centers.
- Services will be charged at an hourly rate based on the time spent completing each bus route.
- Transportation will occur Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, excluding observed holidays.
- Compliance with the Georgia Department of Human Services Transportation Manual is mandatory, covering driver requirements, training, insurance, vehicle maintenance, safety inspections, recordkeeping, and vehicle monitoring.
- Drivers must adhere to traffic laws and practice defensive driving techniques. They are also responsible for assisting passengers with boarding and exiting the bus, securing passengers during transit, monitoring passenger comfort, managing routes effectively, communicating clearly with passengers, conducting vehicle inspections before and after trips, maintaining accurate trip logs and passenger rosters, providing special services when required, participating in ongoing training related to the needs of seniors and disabled individuals, and reporting incidents thoroughly.

Period of Performance
The contract will be for one (1) year with two (2) options to renew.

Transportation services will be performed within DeKalb County, Georgia.
