Ben Hill Middle School Gym Floor Replacement

Background
The Ben Hill County Schools is issuing a solicitation for the replacement of the gymnasium flooring at Ben Hill Middle School. The goal of this project is to remove the existing poured rubber floor and install a new wood athletic flooring and base system in the gymnasium, enhancing the facility for educational and athletic purposes.

Work Details
The project includes:
1. Removal of existing poured rubber flooring.
2. Installation of new wood athletic flooring and base system.

Specific requirements include:
a. A vapor barrier must be installed, which complies with ASTM E 96 (0.006 Perms or lower) and ASTM E 1745 (Class A). The thickness of the vapor retarder must be no less than 15 mils.
b. Installation must follow manufacturer’s instructions and ASTM E 1643-98, ensuring proper sealing over footings and foundation walls, with specific overlap and sealing requirements for joints and penetrations.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence within ten days of the Notice to Proceed and must be completed by February 1, 2026.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Ben Hill Middle School located in Fitzgerald, Georgia.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must provide a bid bond equal to 5% of the base bid amount, issued by a Surety authorized to do business in Georgia. The successful bidder will also need to furnish performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract price. Additionally, bidders are required to comply with all terms outlined in the Georgia Vendor Manual.
