26-042 ITS Loop A Fiber Project S2101

Background
The City of Sandy Springs is issuing this contract for the ITS Loop A Fiber Project S2101, which aims to install new fiber optic communications systems to meet current and future communication needs. The project involves both the installation of new fiber trunklines and the replacement of existing ones along various corridors in the city, collectively known as Loop A. This initiative is part of the city's efforts to enhance its communication infrastructure.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
- Installation of approximately 9.3 miles of fiber optic cable, both aerially and underground, using trenching and directional boring methods.
- Installation of new fiber drop cables to 22 existing traffic signals.
- Conduit installation and pathway preparation.
- Placement of pullboxes, fiber optic cable pulling, splicing, and termination.
- Installation of associated hardware and enclosures, including a hub cabinet and hub switch.
- TMC integration and testing/certification of all fiber strands.
- Restoration of disturbed areas and coordination with utility providers as necessary.

Bid alternates include connections to existing signals grouped by functional loop locations:
- Alternate 1: Connection to 4 existing signals.
- Alternate 2: Drops to 14 existing traffic signals.
- Alternate 3: Drops to 6 existing traffic signals.

Period of Performance
The contract will commence within ten (10) calendar days after the issuance of the Notice to Proceed and must achieve substantial completion within three hundred sixty-five (365) calendar days from that date.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed throughout various corridors in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

Bidder Requirements
Bidders must be pre-qualified Prime Contractors listed by the Georgia Department of Transportation and must perform at least 51% of the work themselves. All contractors must comply with federal, state, and local laws applicable to this project.
