2025-03 Fire Dept Generator Project

Background
The City of Sandersville Fire Department is seeking bids for the installation of a 125 KW generator. The goal of this project is to enhance the operational capabilities of the fire department by ensuring a reliable power source during emergencies. The City reserves the right to accept or reject any bids in the best interest of the community.

Work Details
The contractor will provide and install a 125 KW generator with specifications including:
- 120/240 volt, three phase, PMG, 60 Hz
- Diesel engine with isochronous governor
- Standard weather protective housing
- Block heater
- Digital control panel
- 400-amp main line breaker
- Full safety shutdowns
- Critical exhaust system mounted
- Battery rack & cables
- Initial fill of antifreeze & oil
- UL approved 24-hour dual wall base fuel tank with low fuel and leak alarms.

Additional responsibilities include pulling a 400 main line amp breaker to the generator, installing control wire in separate conduit, and installing a ground rod connected to the main panel at the fire department. The contractor will conduct any necessary digging/trenching for underground feeders and conduit installation. An Automatic Transfer Switch with similar specifications and features as outlined above must also be provided. A concrete pad measuring 168” x 72” x 6” will be required for installation. The contractor must ensure all labor and materials are included in their bid and conduct system tests post-installation. On-site training for fire department personnel is also required.

Period of Performance
The contract work is expected to commence within three months after bid award and must be completed by May 6th, 2025.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the City of Sandersville Fire Department located at 141 W. Haynes Street, Sandersville, GA 31082.
