Background
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is seeking competitive pricing for the forestry mulching of dense vegetation within the 41 Tract and Yucca Pens Unit Wildlife Management Area (WMA) in Charlotte and Lee Counties.
This initiative aims to improve wildlife habitat by reducing vegetation height and density, facilitating better application of prescribed burning.
The project encompasses approximately 16,000 acres, focusing on areas with high densities of saw palmetto and wax myrtle.

Work Details
The contractor will provide all labor, materials, equipment, supplies, and miscellaneous items necessary for mechanical treatment operations.
Specific tasks include:
1. Mechanically treating vegetation less than or equal to 6 inches in diameter to a height of 4 inches or lower, shredding/mulching all treated vegetation.
2. Avoiding damage to threatened and endangered plants and wildlife by adhering to flagged areas designated by the FWC Project Manager.
3. Minimizing ground disturbance during operations and ensuring all equipment is clean prior to site entry to prevent contamination by invasive species.
4. Submitting weekly updates indicating treated areas and billable acres.
5. Conducting work primarily during dry months (January-April), with potential adjustments based on site conditions.

Period of Performance
The contract will be effective for one year upon issuance of the Purchase Order, with an initial completion date set for June 20, 2025.
