Western Way Interim Improvements

Background
The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District is issuing a bid for the Western Way Interim Improvements project. The District aims to enhance traffic flow and safety in the area, particularly at the intersection of Buena Vista Drive and Western Way, while ensuring minimal disruption to existing traffic circulation.

Work Details
The scope of work includes:
- Maintenance of traffic
- Temporary traffic control
- Lane closures
- Milling and resurfacing of existing asphalt pavement to a depth of 1.5 inches
- Removal of existing concrete traffic separator
- Hydro blasting of the bridge deck
- Final pavement marking and striping
- Installation and relocation of regulatory signs
- Removal and replacement of themed wayfinding signs
- Relocation of existing signal heads
- Installation of new signal heads
- Installation of new median turn lane signal pedestals and bases along with associated conduit
- Installation of pull boxes
- Traffic control cabinet tie-in work
- Erosion control measures
- Site restoration.
The project will also involve localized striping modifications on Hartzog Road.

Period of Performance
The contract will be performed starting from the date of award through the completion of all specified improvements, with an emphasis on maintaining public safety during construction activities.

Place of Performance
The work will be conducted at Buena Vista Drive and Western Way, with additional tasks along the northbound approach of Hartzog Road.

Bidder Requirements
Vendors must register on the PlanetBids platform to participate in the bidding process. There are preferences for local vendors, veteran small businesses, and opportunity zone businesses. A mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting will be held via Microsoft Teams on May 26, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
