Spirit of the Wild Wildlife Management Area Vegetation Clearing & Fire Line Installation

Background
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is seeking competitive bids for vegetation clearing and fire line installation along Robert’s Canal in the Spirit-of-the-Wild Wildlife Management Area, located in Hendry County, Florida.

The mission of the FWC is to manage fish and wildlife resources for their long-term well-being and the benefit of people. This contract aims to enhance habitat management and fire safety in the area by clearing vegetation and establishing fire lines.

Work Details
The contractor will be responsible for:
1. Clearing approximately 8 miles of vegetation within a 50-foot right-of-way from the canal bank.
2. Preparing 16-foot-wide fire lines along the canal bank, up to 8 miles as budget allows.
3. Providing a price per tenth of a mile for both vegetation clearing and fire line installation.
4. Complying with federal, state, and local guidelines regarding wetland disturbances.
5. Supplying all necessary tools, equipment, and vehicles to complete the work.
6. Ensuring all equipment is clean to prevent contamination by non-native species.
7. Carrying fire extinguishers on equipment used for mechanical treatment.
8. Avoiding unnecessary disturbance of vegetation outside designated areas.
9. Coordinating with WMA personnel during field activities.

Period of Performance
The contract will be effective for one year from the issuance of the Purchase Order, with work expected to begin within 30 days of issuance unless otherwise directed by the FWC Project Manager.

Place of Performance
The work will be performed at Spirit-of-the-Wild Wildlife Management Area in Hendry County, Florida.
