Description

This is not a solicitation for services or commodities. pursuant to 287.057 F.S., This is a public notice posting of an agency decision for a single source procurement.

It is the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's intended decision to award the referenced single source to Hamilton Company.

Background
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has posted a Notice of Intended Decision to Enter into a Single Source Contract for the procurement of a Hamilton Microlab STAR, a liquid handling robotic instrument used to extract DNA samples. The decision is in accordance with Rule 60A-1.045, Florida Administrative Code, and section 287.057(3), Florida Statutes. The current machine owned by FDLE is over 17 years old, antiquated, and in need of replacement. The Hamilton Microlab STAR has been validated to meet FDLE, CODIS, and FBI standards for DNA extraction. FDLE wishes to trade in the existing machine to generate cost savings on the purchase of a new Hamilton Microlab STAR machine.

Work Details
The intended use of the Hamilton Microlab STAR is for the extraction of DNA samples from indicator cards received from law enforcement agencies throughout the state of Florida. The extracted DNA is then amplified and analyzed before being used to create a profile for individuals in the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). The equipment must be validated and compatible with FDLE policies and meet FDLE standard operating procedures.

The intended single source for this procurement is Hamilton Company located at 4970 Energy Way, Reno, NV 89502.
