Background
The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking the services of a qualified Design Professional firm to provide 100% Construction Documents for a FEMA P-361 Standards compliant safe room at the Emergency Operations Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This project is funded through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), as approved by the Florida Division of Emergency Management and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
The goal is to enhance the safety and operational capacity of the Emergency Operations Center during hurricane events.
Work Details
The selected Consultant will develop 100% construction documents for a new stand-alone hurricane safe room at the City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) located at 2200 Executive Airport Way, Fort Lauderdale, FL. The scope includes:
1. Engineering designs and calculations, surveys, permitting, and notices necessary for Phase I.
2. Performance-oriented drawings and specifications that allow construction firms to prepare bids or proposals.
3. Specifications must include legal descriptions of the site, survey information, interior space requirements, material quality standards, schematic layouts, conceptual design criteria, cost estimates, design schedules, site development requirements, utilities provisions, stormwater management plans, and parking requirements.
4. The design must ensure compliance with FEMA P-361 standards to provide protection against wind events up to 200 MPH for approximately 300 personnel.
Period of Performance
The contract will commence upon award by the City Commission and will cover the duration necessary to complete Phase I of the project as specified in the solicitation.
Place of Performance
The work will be performed at the Emergency Operations Center located at 2200 Executive Airport Way, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33309.
Bidder Requirements
Consultants must be licensed and registered in Florida in their respective fields. They should have at least ten years of experience in architectural or engineering design services for emergency operations centers or similar critical public safety facilities. Proposers must demonstrate relevant experience with similar projects and possess sufficient financial support and organizational capacity to perform under this contract.
