Design Professional - Peanut Island Park Improvements

Background
Palm Beach County is seeking design professional consulting services for improvements at Peanut Island Park, located at 6500 Peanut Island Rd, Riviera Beach. The project aims to enhance the park's facilities, including the Kennedy Bunker, Coast Guard Station House, and Coast Guard Boat House. The County's mission is to restore these historical structures while ensuring compliance with state requirements for projects funded by state grants.

Work Details
The selected design firm will provide architectural and engineering services that include:

- Planning Services: Site, utility, infrastructure, facility planning studies and analysis, programming, master planning, and preliminary architectural and engineering design.

- Investigative Services: Survey and geotechnical analysis.

- Design Services: Professional engineering and/or architectural consultation; civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing engineering; surveying; geotechnical services; permitting and regulatory services; specialty subconsultant services as needed.

- Permitting Services: Securing all necessary permits for construction and providing design support for site plan approval.

- Construction Administration Services: Reviewing submittals, conducting construction observation and inspections, and performing site visits.

The project involves approximately 9,000 square feet of renovation to the Coast Guard Station House (built in 1937), renovations to the Coast Guard Boathouse (also built in 1937), and repairs to the Kennedy Bunker (constructed in 1961). The structures are in varying states of disrepair due to water damage and termite issues. The project also includes efforts to add these locations to the Historical Register or create a Historical District on the island.

Period of Performance
The preliminary schedule indicates that design work will commence in December 2024. Permitting will be submitted by November 2025, and construction is expected to begin in April 2026.
